Schools and educational programs across the country are facing unprecedented challenges, and ProPublica’s team of reporters is committed to investigating them this year.

To do the most impactful, comprehensive work possible, we need to hear from people who know the education system best. Our reporters do this in a number of ways, from staying in touch with educators to in-person reporting. But we know we can’t visit every school. We need your help to learn about the issues affecting schools and communities across the country.

Fill out the brief form below to join our source network, and we may contact you with questions related to your expertise, such as when we’re researching a topic or reporting in your area. We promise not to spam you with requests.

We also want to know what you think we should be covering. What does your school, college or program need that it’s not getting? What issues or changes are you seeing?

At the moment, we’re especially interested in learning about public funding for private institutions, teacher retention, homeschooling, virtual education, behavioral threat assessments, school surveillance technology, inequities and how schools are addressing the mental health crisis among students.

For those of you who don’t know us yet: ProPublica is an independent nonprofit investigative newsroom that often partners with local journalists. Our previous reporting on education has led to real impact. Fill out the form below to join our network of sources and tell us what you think we should be covering.
