ProPublica announced on Friday the hiring of Janine Paver as deputy director of leadership gifts and Heather Schade as assistant director of leadership gifts.

Paver joins ProPublica from KQED in San Francisco, where she worked with major donors from all regions of the Bay Area in support of public media. Previously, Paver was a fundraiser for several nonprofit performing arts organizations, led the fundraising efforts for California Humanities and designed and implemented the donor membership program for the Bing Concert Hall at Stanford University. In her new role as deputy director of leadership gifts, Paver will focus on building ProPublica’s network of major supporters in California and the Pacific Northwest.

Since joining ProPublica in October 2022, Schade has focused on deepening relationships with the organization’s network of major supporters on the East Coast. Before joining the news organization, she served as Storm King Art Center’s associate director, institutional giving, and oversaw a substantial increase of the program during her tenure. She has also worked at other New York cultural organizations including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and the Brooklyn Museum.
